Telemonitoring Boosts Heart Attack Recovery Through Remote Cardiac Rehabilitation

This study tested a comprehensive telerehabilitation system to improve cardiac recovery after heart attacks. Despite cardiac rehabilitation being strongly recommended by medical guidelines, only 30% of European patients participate in these life-saving programs. Researchers enrolled 67 patients with various types of heart attacks to validate whether remote monitoring technology could boost participation in exercise programs and improve cardiovascular risk factors. The telemonitoring approach was compared to traditional center-based cardiac rehabilitation to determine its effectiveness in supporting recovery and long-term heart health.
